The Untold Her
Oleh: N. Gie
In the old town, beneath a cathedral’s weary spine,
through her body walked a mosaic of sin and silence.
Christmas Eve bells rang like confessions half forgotten,
their echoes pressed against the corners of her lips,
where a smile once curved and vanished.
The original wound, cradled in belief, baptized in poison.
Religion brushed her skin, vulgar in its tenderness.
She knelt never for pray,
but to gather the remnants of herself
scattered beneath stained glass saints
who never spoke her name.
The air flushed,
an agitation of soul against flesh.
Her breath caught between lament and laughter, as if both were sacred.
While Amazing Grace was sung by the cathedral till its throat hurts.
A contrast in her stillness, it nailed itself to the moment,
of delicate, bent, trembling.
The moon outside was a silent witness
it arched like a question she couldn’t answer,
snatched from her fragile faith.
And when dawn came,
no light absolved her,
only the quiet knowing
that even ruin can be holy.
Philosophy:
At its heart, this poem might be about womanhood as both worship and transgression. It’s not about rejecting belief, it’s about confronting the inherited guilt within it. The “her” remains “untold” because her version of holiness doesn’t fit scripture. While her truth lives in the margins, in the trembling between confession and desire. A portrait of a complex life.

But ultimately, this poem is open to interpretation. It can be interpreted as rebellion, idealism, humanity, or God's love; it depends on the imagination of the person interpreting it.
